Sensitivity Triggers

Tooth sensitivity is experienced as a short, sharp painful sensation, which can occur after eating or drinking something hot, cold, sweet, or acidic.

What Causes Sensitivity?

Exposed dentin can lead to sensitive teeth pain. Dentin is the underlying tooth surface that contains openings that lead to the nerve and act as the pathway to sensitivity pain.

Over time, dentin can become exposed due to:

• Enamel erosion

• Gum recession

• Tooth grinding

• Improper brushing

Tips for Sensitivity Relief:

Brush with a specifically-formulated Colgate Sensitive toothpaste twice daily
Use a soft-bristled toothbrush
Brush gently to help prevent enamel wear and gum recession
Consult a dental professional for other treatment options
